Bridgestone Battlax BT-023 Sport Touring Radial Rear Tire - Features

  • Consistent performance between touring and sport riding
  • Long wear life, high level of wet performance for touring, and high performance similar to a sport tire
  • Tread pattern, construction and compound provide substantial wear life - 30% longer than Bridgestones's BT-021 tire
  • 3LC, Mono-Spiral Belt, HTSPC, Silica Rich, RC Polymer, and Nano Pro-Tech technologies used to achieve high levels of all-around performance
  • Combination of tread pattern and compound supports stable cornering even in wet conditions
  • Strong stability in high speed cruising, with grip and steering control like a sport tire in “sport mode” riding
  • Confident and comfortable riding with solid mileage for touring
  • Comfortable cruising for touring with good bump absorption and less noise
  • Richer feedback and a more secure contact feel in all conditions
  • This motorcycle tire is tubeless
  • These sport touring motorcycle tires are W rated for speeds up to 168 mph

    Tire Compound:
  • 3 Layer Compound (3LC) provides grip performance and regular wear demanded in every aspect and all riding modes by putting the right compound in the right part of the tread
  • The center compound offers linear handling while the shoulder compound secures high grip and solid contact feeling
  • Silica Rich compounds provide more consistent and longer lasting grip with enhanced grip in wet conditions and low temperatures
  • RC Polymer: A specific Nano Pro-Tech butane rubber that is specifically designed to react with silica, improving tread flexibility to provide enhanced wet traction and long wear life
  • Nano Pro-Tech: Is a Bridgestone proprietary technology that controls the interaction between polymer, filler materials (carbon black, silica) and other rubber chemicals at the molecular level
  • Silica Rich compound and RC polymer offer strong wet performance and wear life

    Tire Construction:
  • Mono-Spiral Belt construction: A continuous single strand of cord is wrapped around the circumference and serves as a belt of a tire, eliminating overlapping of belts, seams, and joints
  • Mono-Spiral Belt construction makes the tire lighter than conventional multi cross belt construction, has more stability since it minimizes heat generation inside the tire, and gives high shock absorption
  • High Tensile Super Penetrated Cord (HTSPC): Features a 1X5 filament, rubber insulated steel Mono-Spiral Belt allowing more flexibility than other types of the steel used by competitors, reduces heat generation, and provides stability without deteriorating shock absorption
  • Steel belt construction provides good bump absorption, grip and stability during high speed riding

    Tread Pattern:
  • Wide contact area in center of tread provides excellent grip, wear life and a smooth ride
  • Vertical grooves realize good contact feel and linear handling
  • Angle groove arrangement provides reliable wet performance

Available in the following motorcycle tire sizes: 150/70ZR-17, 160/60ZR-17, 160/70ZR-17, 170/60ZR-17, 180/55ZR-17, 190/50ZR-17, and 160/60ZR-18

Can't tell a lot of difference between this tire and the bt 014 after putting 200 miles on the tire. hold tight in the corners.

Review by Paul from Hull, GA on 9/6/2011
Long even wear from the front BT-023 I put on last year - no cupping and even wear side to crown. With the new 023 on the rear, left right transitions are smooth and predictable. No rain experience, we're in a drought.

Have been using these tires since they came out. For street riding, you can't beat the cost for a set of these. I run them on my 98 ZX9R, 05 ZX10R, and 06 R1

Excellent tires overall. Bridgestone has been the sole provider for tires in MotoGP for the last 4 years, who wouldn't want what's on the track. First ride home with these was in the rain, they lock onto wet pavement no problem. My bike felt brand new when I first rode in dry weather, smooth sailing in the straights, dips and into twists nicely. Great bump absorption too. Can't comment on tread life yet, only had them on for a few hundred miles. Chaparral has the best price for the combo!

Review by Jhon from Chula Vista, CA on 8/17/2012
Great tires, I've used them in rain and extreme heat. I take my bike out almost every weekend for canyon or mountain rides. And I use my bike for commuting to work everyday 60 miles total. I got 11,000 miles out of the rear and 13,000 from the front. I ride a Gsxr600 2007. I have to admit I never really paid attention to air pressure as I should have. Probably could have squeezed some more miles out of the rear.

So far so good. This tire seems to be a very good tire in all areas. I need to put some more miles on it but I really like it so far. I recommend to buy it in the package deal to save some money.

I just bought another one. Chaparral has great prices on these tires. I run them on a Triumph 1050 Sprint and couldn't be happier. Great traction wet or dry and excellent tread life. I got 10,000 miles out of the last one.

I only have but a few hundred miles and live in Illinois so things like grip, stability and cornering aren't easily judged in the land of flat. The price and service were right and I hope to get them bent over in turns soon. I also hope to get more than 10k from them as that's what I was getting from my PR2's. So far so good!

I moved to the BT023 from the BT016 looking for better tread life on a Kaw- ZX14. I was very apprehensive about traction performance in the curves, but I just returned from an aggressive ride of several hundred miles in the twists and I was amazed with the cornering performance. I scrubbed the tires in well, (zero chicken strips). I expected the harder tire to slip under power when exiting the corners, but I had no issues. I increased power incrementally on corner exits to find the limits of the tire, and I had to really get crazy and intend to make it slip. I am very happy with the tires performance in the twists. I only have 1,500 miles on the tires, but there are no signs of tire profile change as of yet. I will do a full review including mileage, when I buy the next set of BT023's.

I received the tire quickly after ordering. I was able to mount and balance myself without issue. I have put around 150 miles on the tire so far so can not speak to tread life, though I expect that the tire will hold up well. Very happy.

BRIDGESTONE MOTORCYCLE TIRE LIMITED WARRANTY

Eligibility

This Limited Warranty covers BRIDGESTONE brand motorcycle tires and only applies to the original purchaser and is valid if all of the following apply:

  • The tire was purchased after January 1, 2010.
  • The tire is of a size that is specified for use by the vehicle manufacturer or Bridgestone.
  • The tire has been used only on the vehicle on which it was originally installed.

What Is Warranted And For How Long

If, before wearing down to 1/32 inch (0.8 mm) of remaining original tread depth (i.e., worn down to the top of the built-in indicators in the tread grooves), and within 4 years from the date of purchase (proof of purchase required; without proof of purchase, then 4 years from the date of manufacture — referenced by the last four digits of the DOT number), for any reason other than those excluded in the section entitled “What This Limited Warranty Does Not Cover,” any eligible tire becomes unusable for any reason within the manufacturer’s control, such tire will be replaced with an equivalent new Bridgestone tire on the basis set forth in this Limited Warranty.

What This Limited Warranty Does Not Cover

  1. Tires with less than 1/32nd of an inch of original tread depth remaining (i.e., worn down to the top of the built-in indicators in the tread grooves).
  2. Tire damage or irregular wear due to:
    • Road hazards, including, without limitation: Puncture, cut, impact break, stone drill, bruise, bulge, snag, etc.
    • Improper use or operation, including, without limitation: Improper inflation pressure, overloading, tire / wheel spinning, use of an improper wheel, tire chain damage, misuse, misapplication, negligence, tire alteration, or use for racing or competition purposes.
    • Insufficient or improper maintenance, including, without limitation: Wheel misalignment, improper brake adjustment, worn suspension components, improper tire mounting or demounting, tire/wheel assembly imbalance, or other vehicle conditions, defects, or characteristics.
    • Contamination or degradation after purchase by petroleum products or other chemicals, fire or other externally generated heat, or water or other material trapped inside the tire during mounting or inflation.
    • Improper repair. Improper repair voids this Limited Warranty.
  3. Rapid tread wear or wear-out. Motorcycle tires have no mileage warranty.
  4. Weather/ozone cracking after 4 years from the date of manufacture.
  5. Ride disturbance or vibration after 1/32 inch (0.8mm) of tread wear use.
  6. Tires with sealant, balance, or other filler material that was not originally applied or inserted by the tire manufacturer.
  7. Tires fitted with used, damaged, or incorrect size inner tubes.
  8. Tires purchased as used.
  9. The consequences of new tires or repaired tires not being allowed a proper run-in/Break-in Period.
  10. Tires purchased and normally used outside of the United States.
  11. Tires used on motorcycles fitted with trailers.
  12. Tires inflated with anything other than air, nitrogen or carbon dioxide.
  13. Replacement Price

Free Replacement Period: Motorcycle tires adjusted under this Limited Warranty will be replaced free of charge during the first 50% of tread wear or within 12 months of the date of purchase (proof of purchase required; without proof of purchase, then within 12 months from date of manufacture), whichever occurs first.

After the free tire replacement period, the tire will be replaced for a pro-rated charge. To determine the replacement price, the dealer will multiply the current dealer selling price of the tire (in effect at the time of adjustment) by 50%. The cost of mounting, balancing, and other service charges, disposal fees, or applicable taxes are payable by the consumer.

A CASH REFUND WILL NOT BE OFFERED IN LIEU OF THE ABOVE.

    Where To Go For Replacement

If the tire was fitted as original equipment, it should be presented to the retailer from whom the motorcycle was purchased. With the exception of mail order tires, tires that were not fitted as original equipment may be presented to any authorized Bridgestone retailer. A mail order tire must be returned to the company from which it was ordered and the consumer must pay all associated shipping and handling costs.

    Owner’s Responsibilities

    • Owner is responsible for proper tire care, and lawful and prudent motorcycle operation. Part of this responsibility is maintaining proper tire inflation pressure and load as recommended by the motorcycle manufacturer and in accordance with restrictions molded on tire sidewalls. Inflation pressure should be checked frequently with a tire gauge and the tire should be regularly inspected for damage or irregular wear.
    • Owner must present to any authorized Bridgestone motorcycle tire dealer or agent the tire for which he or she is seeking warranty consideration and proof of purchase. (Consult a telephone directory for the nearest authorized Bridgestone motorcycle tire dealer)
    • Owner must pay all applicable dealer service charges and taxes.
    • Owner must complete and sign the customer section of the Bridgestone Limited Warranty Form.
    • The motorcycle on which the tire was equipped must also be available for inspection by an authorized dealer.
    • Tires accepted for warranty compensation become the property of Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, LLC.

Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitations of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to all consumers.

This Limited Warranty applies only to consumers actually using the tire in the United States. For warranty conditions outside the United States, see the local Bridgestone distributor.

Obligations under this policy may not be enlarged or altered by anyone.
