Bridgestone Battlax BT-023 GT Spec Sport Touring Radial Rear Tire - Details

  • Consistent performance between touring and sport riding
  • Long wear life, high level of wet performance for touring, and high performance similar to a sport tire
  • Tread pattern, construction and compound provide substantial wear life - 30% longer than Bridgestones's BT-021 tire
  • 3LC, Mono-Spiral Belt, HTSPC, Silica Rich, RC Polymer, and Nano Pro-Tech technologies used to achieve high levels of all-around performance
  • Combination of tread pattern and compound supports stable cornering even in wet conditions
  • Strong stability in high speed cruising, with grip and steering control like a sport tire in sport mode riding
  • Confident and comfortable riding with solid mileage for touring
  • Comfortable cruising for touring with good bump absorption and less noise
  • Richer feedback and a more secure contact feel in all conditions
  • Consistent performance for use on heavy weight bikes
  • This motorcycle tire is tubeless
  • These sport touring motorcycle tires are W rated for speeds up to 168 mph

Tire Compound:

  • 3 Layer Compound (3LC) provides grip performance and regular wear demanded in every aspect and all riding modes by putting the right compound in the right part of the tread
  • The center compound offers linear handling while the shoulder compound secures high grip and solid contact feeling
  • Silica Rich compounds provide more consistent and longer lasting grip with enhanced grip in wet conditions and low temperatures
  • RC Polymer: A specific Nano Pro-Tech butadiene rubber that is specifically designed to react with silica, improving tread flexibility to provide enhanced wet traction and long wear life
  • Nano Pro-Tech: Is a Bridgestone proprietary technology that controls the interaction between polymer, filler materials (carbon black, silica) and other rubber chemicals at the molecular level
  • Silica Rich compound and RC polymer offer strong wet performance and wear life

Tire Construction:

  • Mono-Spiral Belt construction: A continuous single strand of cord is wrapped around the circumference and serves as a belt of a tire, eliminating overlapping of belts, seams, and joints
  • Mono-Spiral Belt construction makes the tire lighter than conventional multi cross belt construction, has more stability since it minimizes heat generation inside the tire, and gives high shock absorption
  • High Tensile Super Penetrated Cord (HTSPC): Features a 1X5 filament, rubber insulated steel Mono-Spiral Belt allowing more flexibility than other types of the steel used by competitors, reduces heat generation, and provides stability without deteriorating shock absorption
  • Steel belt construction provides good bump absorption, grip and stability during high speed riding

Tread Pattern:

  • Wide contact area in center of tread provides excellent grip, wear life and a smooth ride
  • Vertical grooves realize good contact feel and linear handling
  • Angle groove arrangement provides reliable wet performance

Available in the following motorcycle tire sizes: 170/60ZR-17, 180/55ZR-17, and 190/55ZR-17

Got about 6000 miles of spirited riding on an '03 FJR before I was down through the wear bars. At that point I was still 500+ miles from home. I was impressed I made it home with no cords showing. In total got approx. 6500 miles out of the rear but it looked like a race slick. Traction through its lifespan was excellent all the way to the edge. The sides got up to temp quickly and get nice and gummy while the center compound wore very well and evenly. Very dependable and stable tire combination with excellent handling in wet and dry. An excellent value that provides confidence in sport and tour riding through the entire cornering clearance range of the bike.
Pros: :
  • Excellent Traction

I installed a new Battlax BT-023 just prior to a trip from Annapolis Maryland USA to British Columbia BC Canada - a trip of over 6500 miles (10500 km). The tire performed flawlessly through the whole trip only needing additional air once. Good grip in wet and dry and very stable. The first 3 days and last 3 days of the trip were on expressways with speeds at 80-85 mph much of the time (moving with large percentage of the traffic). Roads in much of rural Canada and returning through Montana USA allow a good rate of speed (speed limit even on 2 lane roads is at least 70 mph in Montana with almost no traffic - always felt safe!). By the end of the trip the center of the tire was worn considerably so the center was no longer rounded but pretty squared off (think a baseball that you grind down on one side so it is flattened on one portion). It appeared there was

So far so good. On FZ 1 the handling and the mileage has been 5-6k with 30% local sport riding and the rest long distance sport touring with a 18055. Trying a 17060 gt this time and the handling is improved.

This is the best tire I have found for my 06 FJR1300. I am a somewhat aggressive rider and the GT does everything I need it to do while having a long wear life. Currently have 6300 miles on the rear and have gotten 6800 on the rear before and over 12000 on the front.
Pros: :
  • Excellent Traction

I replaced the OEM Dunlop Roadsmart tires on my Honda VFR 1200 F at 6000 miles with the Bridgestone BT023GT. The immediate improvement in turn initiation was remarkable. After a 700 mile ride through the Selkirk International Loop of British Columbia on winding mountain roads I am impressed with the cornering traction the motorcycle now seems willing to lean over and hold a line with ease. No experience in rain yet but if these outlast the former I will be buying again.
Pros: :
  • Excellent Traction
