IMS Motorcycle Oversized Fuel Tank - Reviews

Review this product
NO GO WR250R
Review by Otter from Palm Springs, CA on 10/13/2012
Oct 13 2012. I am sure Chaparral will soon fix this, but the Chaparral website motorcycle selector points to this tank (117327X) for the 2010 WR250R, and it is the wrong tank. I had to bring mine back. The correct tank from IMS for the R model is the model number 117331. The F model tank which uses a petcock, not a fuel pump, is the 117327. Just saying in case you are buying this for a WR250R.

The good: It holds gas and doesn't leak.....yet. The bad: With the moving of the petcock forward, my gas line was too short, for 270.00 you would think IMS could include a bit of gas line. The ugly: The fitment with this tank was not good at all, it fit the frame and motor just fine, but the fairings were a huge pain to get back on the tank, some major pulling and stretching just to get the bolt holes even close to lining up. Now that is on the bike the plastics are bending in spots and just looks bad. I have a bit of experience with IMS tanks, have owned them before on previous bikes and now the wait begins to see when the gas cap gasket will rot away and fall into the tank, OR the O-ring gasket for petcock begins to leak. IMS chalks it up to different blends in gasoline for different areas of the country, state, etc. but do yourself a favor if you buy an IMS tank, buy extra gaskets and O-rings.
