IRC WF920 Wild Flare Front Tire - Reviews

Review this product
Great tire
Review by DF from Hampstead, MD on 6/26/2011
I own a '98 Honda Magna and my tire choices are very limited. I wanted to put on a matched set, and it seems that the only tires available that will fit both the front and rear of my bike are Metzler, Dunlop, and IRC Wild Flares. When I bought my bike (used) it had a Dunlop on the rear and a Metzler on the front. The Dunlop didn't wear terribly well and several times I had the rear end try to skate out on me when accelerating out of a turn under moderate power. The Metzler appeared to be holding up very well, and felt secure, but had an annoying and disconcerting tendency to "nibble" on any little ridges in the road. So, my only remaining choice was the IRCs. The price was certainly right, the flame tread pattern looks great, and from multiple good reviews that I read online I decided to give them a try. I just had them mounted today, so I can't rate their durability yet, but WOW. HUGE difference. My Magna feels like an entirely different bike. The ride is very noticeably smoother. The front tire doesn't nibble on the ridges, and I intentionally tried to get it to do so by crossing back and forth over longitudinal cracks in the road. Even though they haven't been thoroughly scuffed in yet both tires feel very secure on turns and twisty roads. And to top it off, Chaparral's service was excellent. I took advantage of their free ground shipping offer and received my tires in exactly one week from the west coast to the east coast. Since normal UPS ground transit time is 5 business days they must have shipped very promptly. Thanks for the great service!
