Everything tire

I have been using this tire for about 6 years now and I love them. Its the only tire I use. I ride Ocotillo many times a season and this is the tire for it! I use it for track riding and racing and it holds up great. I swear by these tires and have gotten many friends to use them.

  • Excellent Traction

DUMP the DUNLOPS

I ride on average 150-200 miles a week in some of the most rocky hard packed rutted crap you have ever seen. I used to run the Dunlop package front and rear but they last about as long as a soft serve ice cream cone on a hot summers day. The compound is great for a watered and manicured track sand or loomey soil. But it cant withstand the harsh environment of the woods desert and mountains. The MAXXIS DESERT IT comes out swinging and hits a homerun. I first tried the rear tire after much coaxing from friends who would joke about my Dunlop's falling apart and needing to be changed every few rides and they we were going 1000 miles plus and the tire still had plenty of tread I surrendered and bought one and WOW was I impressed!! The tire is AMAZING in these harsh environments and wears incredible. The natural progression lead me to try the front and instantly

Best Desert Tire
5
I mainly ride the deserts of Southern California specifically Johnson Valley OHV. Those that ride that area know how rocky and nasty it can get. I ride the NHHA series and they throw some of the most nastiest single track trails at you that you can imagine. The Maxxis desert IT tire holds up well. I've used Dunlops Kenda and a couple other brands only to come back to the Maxxis IT. In my opinion it is the best tire for the price. Most durable and still provides great traction in the most wicked terrain.

  • Excellent Traction

Great Tire

This tire is great in high heat desert temps. holds its line in the corners. I run the desert it on my ktm200300 and my Yamaha it490 in the trees at Kennedy meadows big bear lake Gorman OHV. Always predictable. Would not use any other tire. In the desert high heat this tire stands out from the others I have tried will not chunk knobs on the rocky desert trails in the Mohave Ocotillo wells OHV(Anza Borrego).

  • Excellent Traction

This tire wears like iron. I have not been able to get a tire that doesn't hold up to the abuse of my kx500 like the Desert IT.If you are looking for a long lasting hard surface tire I recommend giving this a try.

Husky TE 511

Dual sport bikes are notorious for not handling very good on any surface especially off road. After crashing my Husqvarna TE 511 with stock tires twice in easy sandy turns I switched to the Desert IT front and rear. The bike has been transformed into a ripping sand wash machine. I have 700 miles of mixed on and off road miles and have more than half of the tread left. If you want to boost your soft terrain handling get these tires.

  • Excellent Traction

Great tire

Have been running this tire for years. #1 because its a decent tire #2 because of the price I would buy 3 at a time for around $65-70. If the tire co. raises the price it will lose me as a customer.

DO NOT BUY!

Installed a new set of the Maxxis Desert ITs for a 1000 mile trip in Baja. I wanted a tire that would last and had high hopes for this one based on reviews. After 200 miles (max speeds around 60-65mph) I was missing two center lugs torn off right down to the case. A third lug went shortly after. Had to finish the trip on a well-used Dunlop I was able to find in a small town where I left the Maxxis rear (we did not have a support vehicle to carry it). Out of 5 riders on nearly identical KTM 525s and 450s 3 were running Maxxis Desert IT or regular IT and EVERY Maxxis rider ended up missing 3 or more lugs on the rear tires. The 2 riders on Bridgestone and Michelin had NO problems and I had NO problems with my used Dunlop. I contacted Maxxis and they let me know the tire would need to be returned to the retailer to see if it would be covered under warranty. Obviously I can´┐Ż

Old slow guy

This tire is well worth the money. What it gives up in brand new traction it make up for in wear. After 5 good rides (approx. 500 miles on a KX 500) when other brands need to be replaced this tire still has good tread remaining and apprears to have several more rides to it. I ride mostly in the high desert lots of rocks and hard packed.
