Skid Plate
5
Purchased the skidplate from Chaparral. I have no issue with them in over 25 years Chaparral has never let me down in any way & always has what I'm looking for. The Pro Armor skidplate however arrived with one of the four mounting holes completely messed up. It appeared that the drill broke off during manufacturing. The stock bolt would not go thru the hole. I contacted Pro Armor and they asked me to send pictures & they would take "care of the rest". I did and they sent me a shipping label to return the skidplate. Upon receipt of the skidplate they would send me another. The second skidplate arrived with the exact same defect. This time I called Pro Armor and talked to the person I had previously emailed. Between listening to him chewing on the phone and his careless attitude I tried to explain that Pro Armor might have had a bad production run of these skid plates and that before shipping me a third defective skidplate they might want to walk out to the stock room to see if they're all like that. Instead he explained how their shipping department works. He didn't seem to care. He called me later to tell me that the shipping department would check the third skidplate before it shipped but first I had to send him a picture of the second defective skidplate as if i was on some kind of mission to cheat Pro Armor out of this specific part time after time. Once I sent him the picture he would send me a shipping label to return the second skidplate. Never once did Pro Armor apologize for the inconveniences and their attitude has been far less than caring. That I've received two defective skidplates in a row says a lot about the quality of their products. Trying to get them to check their stock before shipping a third defective part was like pulling teeth. If they had any care for the quality of their products they should have had the idea long before I said anything. The quality of the skidplate is barely OK. I understand it's a skidplate & will be subjected to a lot of abuse. Both skidplates had gouges & scratches to the point of large burrs on the edges of the plate making installation a very careful task without loosing some blood in the process. If the third plate arrives like the first two (hopefully without the defect) I'll be spending some quality time with a file & burr knife before installation. I like the thickness of the plate it seems almost bullet proof. Welds seems to be nice too. Last night I sent the pictures of the second skidplate as asked. I expect a shipping label early next week. We'll see what the third skidplate has to offer. This is the last time I'll do business with Pro Armor. In a super competitive off road parts aftermarket I'd think they would go out of their way to make sure their customers are happy. Evidently Pro Armor didn't get the memo.
