AMA Flat Track announces new director

The winter is a tough few months for motorsports fans, as there are few top-level races to follow and poor weather means that riding is often out of the question. However, as the ice begins to melt, a new season of racing promises to shake off the winter blues and give racing fans something to talk about again.

AMA is gearing up for new seasons in a variety of competitions, and one of the more popular ones is the AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Championship. The racing gets underway on March 10th at Daytona International Speedway, but first AMA had a little housekeeping to do with regards to who would actually run the show.

With Mike Kidd’s transition to a marketing role for the series, there was a huge vacancy in the position of director. AMA has announced that it has chosen Dan Johnsen, the former head of technical inspection for the series, as the man for the job.

“Dan has been an important part of our success in AMA Pro, and we feel very confident that he will bring his considerable skills to our important Flat Track activities,” said David Atlas, COO and managing member of AMA Pro Racing.

“I look forward to working in Flat Track with all its traditions and the great community of racers,” Johnsen said.
