One of the big events on the AMA Pro Road Racing schedule is definitely Big Kahuna Atlanta, which this year is scheduled for April 20th through the 22nd. Racing fans always look forward to this exciting competition, but this year will be extra special. AMA and M1 Powersports have announced that they will be adding the Historic Moto Grand Prix to this year’s race, creating another level of interest for longtime road racing fans.
During the weekend, Road Atlanta’s main paddock will be turned into a gigantic display area, featuring some of the more iconic bikes from road racing’s past. What’s more, the organizers have contacted some racing legends to be reunited with the bikes they helped make famous.
At lunchtime on all three days, these legends will be allowed onto the track on their old bike for a series of demo trials, some of which are sure to strike a nostalgic chord with veteran fans in attendance.
“The original Big Kahuna at Road Atlanta is where it all started for me,” said Cameron Gray, CEO of M1 PowerSports. “With the Historic Moto Grand Prix on board for this year’s Big Kahuna Atlanta, we’ll be able to connect the past with the present with all of these great champions and bikes heading back to the track. I can’t wait to see what they’ve got in store.”
