Taylor Robert Wins Opening WORCS Race

The 2012 World Off-Road Championship Series (WORCS) kicked off at Glen Helen Raceway this past weekend, and it was Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Taylor Robert who ended the day on top of the podium.

In the first Saturday race, it was KTM’s Mike Brown who jumped out to an early lead, but Robert was right on his tail. Eventually, the Kawasaki rider proved to be too much to handle for Brown, who had to settle for second. Neither Brown nor Robert ended up winning the second race, however, as it was Yamaha’s Kyle Summers who took first. Summers missed most of last season with an injury, so it was a big win for his team. Robert finished second and Brown settled for third.

Overall, that left Robert with a 1-2 finish and first place for the weekend. Brown’s 2-3 was good enough for second, while Summers’ 5-1 helped him take third.

“It’s a good way to start the season,” Robert told Cycle News. “I’ve got to thank my team, my family, everybody that helped me prepare for 2012. It’s going to be a long series and this is just the first one.”
