MotoGP recently celebrated its most successful Day of Champions yet. The annual event, which raises money for Riders for Health, a relief organization that brings motorcycles to aid workers in Africa to improve transportation in remote areas, generated $337,000 for the cause thanks to auctions of motorcycle gear and memorabilia – as well as some star power.
Big names from the world of Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez auctioned off some of their own and racing paraphernalia. Rossi was particularly impressive, going so far as to auction the hat off his head and encouraging his fans to donate.
