I've been in the market for a new helmet for about 2 years. I have been deciding between 4 to 6 brands Troy Lee, Shoei, Arai, Just1, Fly and Bell. During this past year I've been seeing these 6D logo helmets everywhere but was not aware of its advantages.

Things that stick out for me that I like about 6D include it's shell size. Other helmets I've ordered below $300 amount were small for their size (TLD) meaning helmet manufacture did all they could to get weight down by shrinking the outer circumference of helmet but I think sacrificed on the proper amount of interior room. Interior padding was sacrificed which I feel hurt the comfort and small impact absorption. The items this 6D helmet includes is the titanium hardware, bigger/better shaped eye port for my Oakley & 100% goggles, weight is low but not the lightest I've held, graphics look sharp on this model, and fit/finish is nice. Also comes with a very nice, included transport bag, extra visor bolts, nice goggle groove around shell and the added grip section to keep goggle in place.

Overall I feel one of the better helmets I've held and put on. Feels very close to Arai Pro 4 but Arai doesn't offer the protection that the ODS system does. Also with Arai helmet all the plastic vents in the back and on top with a small crash could be damagaed and or ripped off and these pieces would most likely need to be replaced.

As far as sizing I was right between medium and large on their helmet sizing chart so this had me guessing which size to go with. I've had certain helmets that fit better on small side once they've broken in and others that needed to be larger after break in. I went for the large size with my head measuring 22 3-4". I think this choice worked out but time will tell if it gets too loose with sweat, taking off and on. Fits perfectly right now. Type of riding I do is all motocross, novice skill level, 2014 YZ250F.

Can't talk about noise, air venting or if visor tends to catch air down straights as I've not ridden with it yet. Still getting over an injury from pretty bad crash late 2015. Hope to be riding again soon.

I've been in the market for a new helmet for about a year. Ordered 3 other brand of helmets from different stores and for one reason or another I returned them. Looked at Troy Lee, Shoei, Arai, Just1, Fly and Bell. The 6D looks and feels like a great helmet and as we know has the newest concussion protection built in. I see these helmets all over the place and was always wondering what was up with this 6D logo.

Things that stick out for me that I like about 6D include shell size. Other helmets I ordered below $300 were small for their size meaning helmet manufactures did all they could to get weight down by shrinking the helmet but I think sacrificed on the proper amount of interior room. Interior padding was sacrificed which I feel hurt the comfort and small impact absorption. Most of these helmets were single EPS liner I'm sure and this was a concerned me. Features I like about 6D is the titanium hardware (trick feature), bigger eye port for my Oakley & 100% goggles, weight is low but not the lightest I've held, graphics look sharp, clean and finish is good. One small negative that I can point out is my ears with this helmet on at their uppermost part are compressed by part of the padding. With other helmets my ears seem to float free in open space created for them. This may change as helmet breaks in but either way not a deal killer. Also like the very nice, included transport bag, extra visor bolts, goggle groove around shell and the added grip section to keep goggle in place.

Overall I feel one of the best helmets I've held and put on. Feels very close to Arai Pro 4 but Arai doesnt offer the protection that the ODS system does. Also with Arai helmet all the plastic vents in the back and on top with a small get-off could be ripped off and these pieces to replace aren't cheap. As far as sizing I was right between medium and large on the helmet sizing chart so this had me guessing which size to go with. I've had certain helmets fit better small once they've broken in and others that needed to be larger. Who wants to go through ordering different width cheek pads to guess the perfect fit. I went for the large with my head measuring 22 3/4. I think this choice worked out but time will tell if it gets too loose with sweat, putting on and taking off. Fit snug now. Bike I ride is 100% motocross, novice rider, 2014 YZ250F.

Can't talk about noise, air venting or if visor catches air down fast straights as I've not ridden with it yet. Still getting over a fractured/compressed thoracic spine, bruised lungs and jacked up twisted rib cage and fracture pain.
Pros: :
  • closeout price
