Great Pads with Crappy Straps
4
These things fit great right out of the box. But after a few uses the elastic velcro straps stretch by a couple of inches and no longer serve to properly tighten the pads into place. As with so very many products in the category of motorcycle safety gear, this one will likely require the end user to break out with the sewing kit so as to fix the defective, stretch, sagging straps. Mind you, with safety gear it's important to use high strength thread, such as Kevlar thread or high strength nylon. One way or another, the curse of the ever stretching elastics is a problem common to most all wearable pads on the market. It's such an absurd and irritating problem, one that manufacturers should address rather than avoid. Because a failed strap makes for useless padding. My plan is to use the padding in these products until the spandex etc. starts to sag, and then transfer the still valuable padding to another spandex product that is new but lacks the padding. Otherwise the forced obsolescence caused by the constantly sagging straps etc. would lead the rider into early bankruptcy. Because these pads aren't cheap. Unfortunately, the choice of materials is cheap as hell. The manufacturers should address this concern, this rather than continue making fools of themselves constructing crappy products. Replacement straps, how about that?
