Motoz Tractionator Desert H/T Hard Terrain Rear Tire - Details

If you have a long ride ahead, and you know the conditions will be rough, a Motoz Tractionator motorcycle tire is the right choice. The Tractionator Desert is designed to handle harder terrain, especially hard trails, desert sand with hard pack variations and fast rocky conditions. Its unique patented tread design handles off camber sections to help climb out of ruts and hard braking at extreme lean angles.

  • Made from 100% natural rubber, nothing else provides the same elasticity, reflex and deflection for the best traction
  • Designed for 95% dry and 5% wet, 90% hard and 10% soft terrain conditions
  • Heavy duty case construction with a dense weave ply cord so greater strength and higher ply rating is achieved with less ply layers
  • Constructed with thicker side walls for maximum strength
  • Sidewalls and rim area are specially designed to protect the rim, but also to minimize pinch flats
  • Vertical reinforcement section between the sidewall layers for greater sidewall strength
  • Carcass is protected by a thick layer of rubber under the tread and around the sidewalls to help minimize punctures
  • Rubber cushion zone allows a small amount of flex under the tread blocks to aid reflex traction and reduce chunk off, increasing tire life and acting as a heat sink to help cool the tire in extreme conditions
  • Terrapactor tread block design and placement helps compact, compress or wedge the terrain creating extra traction, drive and lift
  • This unique concept coupled with the use of superior rubber quality works to lessen the impact on the terrain and provide extra traction
  • Crown Radius Section specifically matched to the application, not just a heavier motocross tire
  • Specifically designed for quick fitting and reduced service times
  • Good for long mileage, hard packed desert (like sand over concrete)
  • Excellent absorption and puncture resistance for outback and dirt back roads
  • Known all over the world for being dependable in the toughest conditions - used in desert racing from Morocco to Baja
  • This motorcycle tire is tube type
  • These dirt bike tires are M rated for speeds up to 81 mph
  • DOT approved

Available in the following motorcycle tire sizes: 130/80-17, 110/100-18, 130/90-18, 140/80-18, and 110/90-19

MotoZ Hard Terrain, 140/80-18

KTM 500 EXC, ridden on rocks, hard packed forestry roads, single track, pavement.

Had the tire on for about 250 miles now and have ridden on every terrain in the SoCal local mountains and desert. Tire hooks up well in all conditions but the best on hard packed roads and loamy single track. For a hard terrain tire, it works better than I thought it would in the sand but nowhere as good as it does on other terrains. It has really stiff sidewalls and I have been experimenting with tire pressures but so far I have found 10# to be the best for traction and avoiding flats. If I was going to do a high speed run across the SoCal deserts (like LA-B-V) I would add a few pounds as insurance.

Wear seems to be above average so longevity should be good. As it looks right now, I should be able to get a good 1k of hard dual sport miles out of it.
Pros: :
  • Good wearing
  • flat resistent stiff sidewalls
  • , beefy lugs that grab everything great
  • just ok in sand but it is a HT tire
Cons: :
  • Big lugs make it heavier than other dual sport tires
  • Stiff side walls require patience when installing unless you have a tire machine
  • cost is a little bit high but if can get 1k out of it that will make it worth it

Great for the nasty stuff

2016 ktm 690 enduro r

Brand new the tyre hooks up on everything , halfway thru traction on hard pack dirt road is dangerous, but with the middle treads gone sides are thick like new . They still hook up on big nasty rocks and never chuck.

With the tubeless system, no air is needed.

Learning the pro's and con's I will buy the again .

1500 miles and I'll keep it as a spare for emergencys

A great rear

Worked great on my 690. I've been running K60's for years now, but I really like this rear after nearly a thousand miles offroad in the rocks of Arkansas. Much better than the overpriced 908RR's in my humble opinion.
Cons: :
  • S L O W shipping from Chaparral, so you better not be in a hurry to get your tires.

Originally had the set, front and rear tire, but dumped the front tire, due to a speed vibration problem at 55 on the street. I ride a lot of hard rocky desert and sandy conditions, and freeway. Have done several trips to Dumont Dunes and Death valley. This tire is an animal! My bike is big and heavy ,+360lbs wet plus gear and me pushing it to 600lbs,and i have put this tire thru all conditions and love it off road, it bites in great on sand and rock with no problems. The street riding, with myself and sometimes a passenger, does take its toll on the tire as expected, but still preforms great on the street, and even better with extra weight on the street. I usually run at about 14 to 16 psi , will get squirmy at about 12psi on the road. have put about 850 miles of 50/50 riding on it and I'm at about 50% tread life.
Pros: :
  • great offroad in sand, mud, hard pack and rocky conditions.
  • treads hold together better than expected for the hard rock and shale trails i have been doing, would have expected a lot of chunking but they held together great.
  • Strong side walls
  • very aggressive tread pattern, Looks great.
  • Will Be Buying this tire again, Great Price for what you get.
Cons: :
  • Would be nice to get 3000 miles out of them but its not going to happen. I will be happy if i get to 1500 miles.

is it long lasting?
Kevin Beard
The wear of this tire will be mostly dependent upon your riding style, location, terrain, etc. This tire is meant for more abuse than most, but if your going to rock climb with it, expect it to wear like most other tires would when heavily abused.
