Tire Recycling Fee
The State of California mandated that sellers of new tires must collect a fee from their customers for each new tire the retailers sell. The current fee is $1.75 per tire.
The fee helps the state operate a tire recycling program, administer a waste tire hauler registration program, pay for cleanups related to the disposal of used whole tires, conduct research directed at promoting and developing alternatives to landfill disposal of used whole tires and covers the regulation of the storage of waste tires.
This fee is only charged on tires being shipped to a California address.
